Canon error 1686
The printer cannot tell how much ink is left, usually because the cartridge was refilled or is not a Canon cartridge.
How to fix it
- If the cartridge has ink, hold the Stop or Resume button for at least 5 seconds to continue printing.
- Ink level warnings for that cartridge will no longer appear, so check print quality yourself.
- If it is empty, replace it.
Is it worth fixing?
Not a fault. It is the printer refusing to guess the ink level.
